Summertime for me is an extremely hot city. The buildings and pavement and extra people all trap the heat and humidity and everything gets slightly cooked. Garbage and urine smells fill the air and subway platforms melt pets and small children. The only sanctuary is music. Particularly, electric funk. Electro. That’s what summer in New York sounds like. And in my imagination, everyone breakdances around like those dudes above from Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.
