The Acorn Cover The Goonies Theme Song

If you’ve taken a look around the new site, you’ve no doubt noticed that a little film made by Richard Donner in 1985 has had a bit of a lasting impact on us. Well, it’s good to see we’re not the only ones still holding this masterpiece in such high regard…

The Acorn recently recorded a cover version of Cyndi Lauper’s Goonies anthem, “Good Enough” (originally known as “Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough”) for Cokemachineglow’s May/June podcast. Yes, but is it “good enough”? Listen below and decide for yourselves.

Of course, we’re missing the synths and those wet wet drums from the original, but more pressing is the absence of the hook from the chorus. We live for that part! Still, there’s something to be said for the subdued vibe of this version; it certainly adds a new weight to the lyrics. Translate nothing Mikey, whether you like it or not you’ve got to hand it to The Acorn for attempting such a drastic reinterpretation of a modern classic.

Listen: “Good Enough”
