While you’re sitting with your jaw on the floor at Radio City Music Hall tonight watching My Morning Jacket do their thing, it’s unlikely many stray thoughts will enter your head. But if for some reason you start daydreaming (nightdreaming?) about time travel, the future, growing old, and amateur golf, we refer you to this series of videos in advance. Entitled “My Morning Jacket 2038″, it’s a mockumentary that catches up with the band 30 years after the release of Evil Urges. Intriguing yes? Read more…
Illegal Art dropped Girl Talk’s new album Feed the Animals today. They did it in a you-name-the-price Radiohead manner and you can order/download it HERE. The much awaited record brings the heat in typical Girl Talk fashion, sampling and mashing all manner of popular music from the past four decades to create another surefire party classic. To celebrate, we’ve got an MP3 from the album and a few videos for your enjoyment. Be sure to grab the entire album while you’re at it, unless a few minutes of your time is too high a price to pay… Read more…
Achtung! This is where today’s “hot” songs and music videos collide. We’ve got a downloadable MP3 to go with a corresponding music video (each) from Tilly & the Wall, The Last Shadow Puppets, Sigur Rós, and Joan As Police Woman. Is “Gobbledigook” the best music video ever? Yes.
“Pot Kettle Black” by Tilly & the Wall [MP3]
“Standing Next to Me” by The Last Shadow Puppets [MP3]
“To Be Loved” by Joan As Police Woman [MP3]
“Gobbledigook” by Sigur Rós (NSFW) [MP3]
We’ve got vids of three recent cover versions from Vampire Weekend (covering Tom Petty), Radiohead (covering Portishead), and Metallica (The Misfits). The Vampire Weekend cover is surprisingly solid; Radiohead playing Portishead backstage is fun and all, but I wish they would do more with “The Rip” and record a version of it in a studio; and let’s face it… it’s time for Metallica to get over themselves.
“Dont Come Around Here No More” by Vampire Weekend (originally by Tom Petty)
“The Rip” by Radiohead (originally by Portishead)
“Last Caress” by Metallica (originally by The Misfits)

Watching the music video for Morrissey’s most recent single (”All You Need Is Me”), it occurred to me that something felt oh so very familiar about it… the outstretched arms? The tambourine? Mozzer surrounded by boys? Yes those, okay, sure. But more than that, it’s the walk. Morrissey singing and walking towards the camera: the most basic of Morrissey music video tactics. How many other videos of his can you name that feature this overplayed action-infusing device?? I came up with a total of eight… Read more…
EAR FARM favorites Dead Confederate and All the Saints are finally in New York City tonight playing a show together at Pianos! Be sure to check out both bands as they’re undoubtedly going to blow the roof clean off that mother. For a preview of what to expect, check out the video (above) that we grabbed in Austin of Dead Confederate opening for R.E.M. during South by Southwest. Seriously, watch it. You get to see that at Pianos! Unreal.
More goodies after the jump… Read more…
So, Kanye is being all Kanyey and has just released a second eog-flippin’ video for “Flashing Lights”… the first one was directed by Spike Jonze. It was pretty raw. I think I like this one directed by Bill Pollock a lot more. Check it out below, as well as a few other brand new vids from El Jezel, Black Kids, and Cut Copy…

Fantastic Plastic artist Bearsuit has a new record that was just recently released. In researching the release, and looking for some official free MP3s from it, I decided to check out the record label’s site. This, in turn, led me to their music/video page. Where, coincidentally, they don’t offer any free MP3s of their artists - do any British labels offer free music?? Idiots. Anyway, it was at this point that I realized that Fantastic Plastic does actually offer a fine collection of music videos from their artists. Check out a few favorites (including two Bearsuit videos) from the Fantastic Plastic family below…
“Oh Solitude” by The Strange Death of Liberal England (above)
“Steven F***ing Spielberg” by Bearsuit (above)
“More Soul Than Wigan Casino” by Bearsuit (above)
“Look Up” by Oppenheimer (above)
“Stupid As Wood” by The Victorian English Gentlemens Club (above)
Or, on MTV2 actually. Same difference. What I’m saying is that last night, on Subterranean, I saw multiple videos I’d never seen before and I loved them. And I discovered a new band too (The Buddy System). It was amazing. Just like old times. Check out a few favorites from last night’s show below… Read more…
Dead Confederate opened for R.E.M. at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q on the first day of SXSW and EAR FARM was lucky enough to spend the entire day with the band. So do yourself a favor and click through for the tour dates and this EXCLUSIVE video… Read more…
In observance of Earth Day today, EAR FARM is joining with many of our fellow Earth dwellers in appreciating the beauty of our world and thinking about ways we can make our planet better. The best we’ve come up with so far in that regard is to offer a small collection of thematically relevant videos made by some musically gifted Earthlings… Read more…
Grizzly Bear performed their newest song “While You Wait For The Others” on Late Night with Conan O’Brien last night (see above, from BV), and on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic at the end of February (listen below). Stereogum got so excited over the song they forgot to turn their listening notes into complete sentences: “Threads through to their love for old ’60s pop in the harmonic feel, building off of the sort of dynamic avant folk they’ve been slinging of late, flooding the sepia of Yellow House with a lot more sunshine … yeah, pretty fucking good.” Read more…
