Simple as that, some videos for your enjoyment from artists releasing new albums this week. And judging from this selection alone, it’s been a particularly eclectic week for new releases. Of course, with albums from the Walkmen, Ra Ra Riot, Fiery Furnaces, the Toadies, and loads of others also joining these on store shelves this week, it’s also been a particularly awesome week. Enjoy the newness… Read more…

Last Sunday night, Bell (this time just Olga on keys, vocals, keytar, etc. and Jason on drums and sound effects) wowed an enthusiastic audience at the intimate Monkeytown in Brooklyn with a little bit of The Go-Go’s, a killer new song, and a slight reshaping of the Bell sound. Musically, it was one heck of a fun time. Visually, the abstracted slow motion Olympic footage added quite a bit to the overall experience. Check out the video below.

Jerry Wexler, who died on Friday, was instrumental in signing or producing some of the greatest artists of our time. Rolling Stone dubs him “The Man Who Invented Rhythm & Blues”. The Guardian recently called him “The Godfather of Soul”. Here at Ear Farm, however, we’d like to remember the music legend with help from a few of his acts.

Aretha Franklin – ” I Say A Little Prayer”

Ray Charles – “Hit The Road Jack”

Dusty Springfield – “Losing You”

Another day, another batch of new videos. In this rotation, a band that EF has long been a fan of (Bowerbirds), a band that we’ve recently gotten to know - and that you now know a bit more about thanks to Leo’s great guest piece on Wednesday - (Spanish Prisoners), and a band that we need to get to know much better judging by this excellent (and brand new) single (The Subjects). So there you have it, watch and get to know all three for yourselves, you won’t be disappointed. Read more…

EAR FARM favorites Takka Takka have just released a new video for their standout song “Silence”. The song is great, the album it’s from, Migration is fantastic, and the video? Well, what can I say? It’s a real treat. Check it out below.

Do brooders never cease? For The Cure’s upcoming 13th studio album, the band decided to release a single (and an accompanying video) on the 13th of May, June, July, and August. Today the band came out with the last installment, “The Perfect Boy”. The album drops next month on–you guessed it-September 13th. So quit moping and watch!

“The Perfect Boy” (August 13th)

“Sleep When I’m Dead” (July 13th)

“Freakshow” (June 13th)

“The Only One” (May 13th)

We declare, some of these videos are so new the code hasn’t even dried yet. So sit back, press play, enter full screen mode and enjoy the latest offerings our ceaseless Internet scavenging has yielded. Highlights include a woodland monster, men in masks straight out of The Orphanage, puppet Kanye, and little tiny sewer nymphs (?). All good things….except the Batcat, that thing is beyond frightening! Read more…

The music world lost a vastly influential icon yesterday with the passing of Grammy-and-Oscar-winning soul maestro Isaac Hayes at age 65. From honing his chops at Stax Records as part of the legendary session band there to scoring one of the most indelible and recognizable - and all around awesome - film scores with Shaft to later reintroducing his unmistakeable baritone to an entirely new generation as Chef on South Park, Hayes’ artistic reach and talents simply cannot be overstated. Enjoy the following selection of videos as we salute a legend… Read more…

We like it when the good stuff comes straight to our inboxes. And rather than keep them to ourselves like a bunch of rude, thoughtless little pigs (beware the Baldwin scorn), better to share them with you. So check it out below, four of our favorite recent videos that make wading through all that spam worthwhile. Pay it forward… Read more…

One Song. One Take. One Cab. So goes the motto of the UK’s endlessly engaging Black Cab Sessions, in which musicians quite literally roll as they rock throughout the bustling streets of London and beyond in the backseat of a cab. We’ve enjoyed these sessions for a while now and want to congratulate the folks over at BCS for recently eclipsing the 50-chapter mark (seen below in the Cool Kids video). Here’s to (at the very least) 50 more bumpy cab rides…. Read more…
